Brief Answer:
Probably an ear infection, follow the advice below.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an ear infection.
The infection of the throat and nose can be spread in the ear.
Sometimes the infection cause swollen lymph nodes in the back of the ear which can cause pain.

Some advices that I can give to you are :
- Take anti-inflammatory medication for the pain such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day
-U se ear drops for antibacterial properties
- If the symptoms continue prescribed antibiotics may be needed.
You can take them orally or apply the as ear drops.
You should visit an ENT specialist for further evaluation.

I have an antibiotic here at home..Amoxclav 875-125 mg tablet.. It was prescribed for an animal scratch wound just in case it started to look infected. I did not need to take it and didn't. 20 tablets to be taken twice a day for 10 days. The pills are just about one year old. Could I just take those?

The antibiotics should be under the expiration date.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I suggest you to try treating the symptoms just with an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg .You can also use warm compresses at the area of pain for relief.

If the symptoms continue for more than three days you can start the antibiotics.
