Question: One year ago came down with 6 week uri while running a skilled nursing facility. Ended up in hospital with diagnosis of PMR and BRVO. Had been on HGH for 19 years for previous pituitary infarct. While in hospital taken off HRT and HGH. Now one year later sed rate and crp back to normal but Excruciating pain both shoulders, both hips,,and avascular necrosis. ,rheumatologist doesn't think PMR causing pain, orthopedic surgeon doesn't think it is orthopedic and I can barely move or walk. Lipase is 78 and GI doc, thinks it is ok and a reagent issue with lab. Tests for Lyme disease negative with only one band. Any idea what could be wrong with me. Also, most of my hair, fell out and have enthesothy of hips and shoulders. I'm desperate for help. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Can be MS.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The excruciating pain and the avascular necrosis can be related to Multiple sclerosis. If all the organic causes have been ruled out then it can be due to MS or osteoporosis. You can also get your serum Vitamin D3 levels evaluated and see if the proper supplements help you.
Do consult a neurologist for a detailed evaluation.
I hope this answers your query.

Would MS limit pain to primarily hips and shoulders and does it cause spinal stiffness? Does it have elevated sed rate and crp? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Can be MS or inflammatory cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Elevated ESR and CRP is suggestive of inflammatory cause. MS can cause a pain limited to hips and shoulders that can spread gradually to other joints. It is mainly a symptom based diagnosis thus needs a detailed examination by neurologist.
Hope my answer is helpful.
