Brief Answer:
Muscle spasm likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Reason for calf discomfort could be muscle strain.
The pain is due to associated muscle spasm . So it is important to relieve it. I would suggest you the following which will definitely help

1 Hot water Fomentation: Either by towel soaked in hot water or by hot water bag. Intermittent application of heat for 15 to 20 minutes each session 4 to 5 times a day will be helpful
2. Muscle Relaxant: Oral taken muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxazone along with analgesic like Diclofenac Sodium will be helpful
3. Local application of Diclofenac Sodium gel will be helpful.
4. Adequate rest and avoiding sudden movement.
5. Gradual & gentle calf stretching exercises to relieve the associated spasm.
It can be due to dehydration, muscle fatigue or electrolyte abnormalities. It is better to drink sufficient fluid and also see that your intake of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium ) is sufficient. You can drink Oralyte for this.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
DVT is less likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
A deep vein thrombosis is usually associated with calf swelling and a continuous pain even during rest. In your case it is less likely but it is best to get it examined and get a color doppler scan done to rule this out.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Hi. I flew back today and had a ultrasound on both legs starting from the groin down. No clots or anything found. Is it time to stop over thinking or is it still likely to develop in the next couple of day? Thank you

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
If the ultrasound scan is normal then there is no need to worry now. You can relax and take a muscle relaxant for relief.
