Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling Caused By DVT
Question: I had a DVT in late September. The pain is gone but I still have some swelling. How long will it last?

First, you need to be sure that DVT is resolved. IF there is soe residual swelling and your prothrombine time is well regulated then there is no need to worry and some degree of swelling may persist for 3 months and in cases of superficial vein obliteration, swelling may persist longer but this is not sign of deep thrombosis. However, if there is increase in swelling or pain then you should do doppler ultrasound and check d-dimers and prothrombine time to rule out relaps.
