Suggest Treatment For Pain And Lumps On Shoulder Blades

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, I am 33 years of age. For the past 2 months i have been dealing with pain and lumps in my left shoulder blade. Which cause me to also have chest pains as well. I am unable to lay down flat on my back and cannot lay on my chest. I have been propped up on my couch with pillows trying to get rest. I have been in and out of the hosp. thinking it was something to do with my heart, but Dr. Says my heart is fine. My symtoms are shakes, weakness, nause, sometimes dizzy. The shaking and weakness only occurrs when i try to massage or lay on it. And it is worse at night. Oh, and i am a female. What could this be...and what do i need to do?

Brief Answer:
I would like to know little detail about illness

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that your shoulder problem and chest pain are two different diseases. I would like to know little detail about your illness.
1. Can you describe number, consistency of the lumps around shoulder?
2. Are you having anxiety and difficulty in sleeping?
3. Are you taking any medicines?
Please send me answers of these questions. I will try my best to help you.
Thanks

Yes...I will try to describe everything in detail. I have tried everything from anxiety meds to pain meds to muscle relaxers. Nothing seems to be helping. This pain comes more and is worse at night. My son, daughter and mother were massaging back and they say they felt a lump...when they rubbed it I begin to shake...I also have shortness of breath as well... I do not have any problems sleeping or going to sleep. It is just getting comfortable... When I try to lay flat or on my side my heart races...I get chest palpations. And the the inner left shoulder pain gets worse and I begin to shake...its like a tremor shaking... Could this be a spinal cord tumor..maybe cervical. Seems to be something with my nerve.

Brief Answer:
You need to get a MRI of the shoulder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case and I think that it can be a nerve compression in the neck or shoulder. I would recommend you to get MRI of the shoulder to confirm the diagnosis. I would also suggest you to show it to a psychiatrist as I think you are also having anxiety neurosis. Chest palpitation and shortness of breath can be due to that also. Taking medicine of anxiety is not sufficient, it's better to talk to someone about this.

I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any thing else you want to know.

Thanks so much for your help... I have been feeling very helpless...with this condition... How does this condition come about ??? Is it because of an anxiety attack ???

To be honest...I think that I may have been misdiagnosed with the anxiety... Because the symptoms are kinda similar...

Hello again...another question. I had a strange feeling come over me today. I began to get light headed and my blood pressure went up.Just trying to figure out why it went up. I wasn't doing anything stressful, wasn't upset just at school standing up talking. Im actually going to school to become an MA. So I know a lil bit about the medical field...still learning. And can I go into an ER and ask to get the MRI done??? I have an appointment coming up on the 4th with my primary. Should I wait or should I go into an ER and ASAP. Because I feel that something is seriously is wrong...

Brief Answer:
Anxiety can increase blood pressure

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think anxiety can increase blood pressure and can cause light headedness. I do not think that MRI is needed for this. I doubt that they would order one if you went straight to the ER.

I would suggest you to take anti anxiety medicine like Alprazolam 25 mg. Its a prescription medication, so you will need to get a prescription after discussing with your doctor.

Thanks

Not trying to be rude...but I have tried the anxiety meds...and none of them or relieving my pain. None of this is helping me... I feel that something else is wrong...I just do not know what it is. But I WILL get to the bottom of it. And im not stressed about anything..so i do not need to talk to a psychiatrist. I would not have anything to talk about if i did. I think I should just get the MRI done. Because I have two small children that I am caring for...I don't need something major to transpire from this... I posted this question to get a second opinion...I am fully aware of anxiety and the symptoms of this..as I said before I am attending Medical school...My heart or my instinct tells me that something else is wrong.

Brief Answer:
You could get an MRI done for more information.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I can understand your concerns and I think if you want, than you can get an MRI done.

The problem is that if MRI shows disc herniation, would you be ready for surgery? If not than the MRI will not offer any other benefit.

Sometimes anxiety medications fail to work. In those situations, it is not necessarily true that diagnosis is wrong. It may mean that different medications are needed to combat the problem.

There is no harm in meeting a psychiatrist if it can save you from surgery or life long drugs.

Thanks.
