Suggest Treatment For Pain And Cramps In Legs

default
Posted on Sat, 19 Dec 2015
Question: For the last 4 months, when I wake up in the morning, the backs of both legs below the knees feel as if the muscles shortened while I was sleeping and hurt. The good thing - they do not hurt during the day unless I sit (as in driving) . If I have been up standing on concrete all day when I go to bed they also hurt and are tender. I have a heating pad that I use each night which seems to relieve the hurting.

Also, in the last few months my hands have started to go to sleep and or fell like needles are in the hands. This lasts until I shake the out or I hold my hands down.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Get investigated and examination done

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The symptoms may be related to nerve involvement or compression of roots.
Other possibilities may be restless leg syndrome if limb pain and cramps occurs in night.
First metabolic causes like vitamin D, vitamin B12, renal function, liver function, blood sugar testing.
Other tests like nerve conduction or imaging of spine can be planned after clinical examination by a neurologist.
For treatment you can try pregabalin with methylcobalamin combination and calcium supplements.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thank you for your reply, it is very helpful .
In the summer, I went to an orthopedic doctor thinking he would diagnose. The doctor did an exam, a MRI and also X-rays and nothing showed up. He was stumped. I didn't know if it was really my muscles, tendons, ligaments etc.
I will take your advice and go to a neurologist.

Thanks again
