Brief Answer: need more information Detailed Answer: hi there. i am dr saumya mittal. and i am going to try to help you with the query. pain at the site of tooth extraction is a regular problem. however, before i answer this question, i need to know if the pain has receded at all in the last 7 days? has it become even mildly less? Any preexisting disease? I also need to know the entire spectrum of medicines prescribed post extraction. As I said, the pain is a normal feature of any procedure. So first possibility is that its just a normal pain, that will gradually subside. The second possibility is that the infection has set in causing delayed healing and pain. so an antibiotic course may be needed, if not already given. Finally, maybe a remnant is left and you need root canalling to make the nerve numb. I hope this information helps you. Do respond as soon as possible so that I can help you further Best of luck Dr Mittal

Dear Dr Mittal, Pain has certainly receded since extraction. It pains mildly during the day and severly when I take food. I have finished one course of Novomox 500 and Combiflam. I do gargling regularly.

Brief Answer: wait for healing Detailed Answer: Hi I think that you should just hold on. If the pain is reducing, it means that the healing is on So just wait If however the pain is intolerable, you may want to visit the dentist again But i think you need to just hold on I hope this helps you Please feel free to ask further queries best of luck Dr Mittal
