Question: Issue Diagnosed: Ovarian Cysts
My wife has been suffering from ovarian cysts in her left Ovary. She is suffering from intense fever with shivering for the last 20 days. Dr says she developed infection due to expansion of ovaries, which is causing intense fever and pain in her left Ovary.
Now Dr says, first, her infection will be treated and then her ovarian Cysts will be removed by lyproscopy.

I am attaching the Examination and Notes of Dr., prescription of one week and ultrasound of wife.

Please guide what you think of the whole situation. How necessary is the operation? What is the recovery time? What is the cost?

Brief Answer:
Infection should be treated first

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.

If there is an infection in the ovarian cyst or anywhere in the abdomen, then it is always advisable to get the infection treated first followed by any surgery.

Please upload the reports and prescriptions so that I can guide you further and answer all your questions.

Brief Answer:
Surgery advised

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have reviewed the attached reports,

Since there are multiple large ovarian cysts present, it is better to operate them laparoscopically, after the treatment of infection.

Recovery after laparoscopy is usually in around 1-2 weeks.

The cost of the procedure depends on the country and region you are getting operated.

Dr. Deepti Verma
