Brief Answer:
No HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hello I am Dr Matin and will be answering your question.
Having done with a high risk activity(unprotected sex) some 17 and half years ago
which is many fold more than the XXXXXXX window period of HIV (Which is 6 months).
So you have 'no HIV'.
Again HIV can't be judged by symptoms as it causes general symptoms -like fever, lymph node enlargement, weight loss , oral thrush etc . So no worries for your oral thrush.

I went to see the doctor because my throat was bothering me. He prescribed me amoxicillin and a anti fungal medicine which was a suspension but didn't work for me. I don't have fever or any weight loss but my throat has be still bothering from my left side. What could it be? After all these years wouldn't the clearview hiv test pick up antibodies?

Brief Answer:
You are not HIV positive

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your response.

Yes, clearview test is accurate and dependable up to 99.9%.
Please try to appreciate the fact that it is the duration, which matters here most. 17 years are very long time when you compare the window period of HIV (6 months).

I guess, I have made everything clear and hence do close here.
You are not HIV positive, Rest assured about it.

Thanks

You mentioned pharyngitis can you explain the symptoms. ..

Answered by Dr. Matin Ahmad Khan (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
HIV can't be explained by symptoms

Detailed Answer:
I guess , after closing down the topic , you put up another question.
Any way my answer to this is that HIV can't be judged by symptoms as it causes same general symptoms as other diseases do .A sore throat /pharyngitis can be caused by HIV as well as other diseases .Here only thing that differentiates is your blood test which conclusively confirms the status of a person -whether positive or negative.
Now even if you have pharyngitis, and if your blood test is negative , then you are a negative person, which you are indeed, You reports are saying this.
Simple.
Again why don't you get to the point that HIV does remain alive in any body's blood for 17.5 years .
I hope you have no more questions now.
