Suggest Treatment For Oral Thrush

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014
Question: I believe I have Thrush Mouth and possibly thrush in my throat.
Am symptomatic because, I have been on Prednisone and antibiotics for several weeks. Also, I am extremely tired all the time. At the time, my doctor was treating me for a sinus infection that would not quit. I waited too long before I sought help, never had this issue with my sinuses before this. It's going on two months and still feel like crap.

Oh! Before I forget, my tongue is coated with crap that wont come off either by brushing or using a tongue scraper.

Thank you for your time and concern,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Use clotrimazole mouth paint for local application

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query.

Oral thrush is a common problem post long term antibiotic and/or steroid use.

Sinusitis is treated with steroids along with antibiotics but if the problem is not subsiding or is leading to other complications, please discus with your ENT the need to surgically treat sinusitis.

Meanwhile, use clotrimazole mouth paint for local application in mouth and if the thrush is going down the throat which is usually rare, use fluconazole lozenges in consultation with your GP.

Feel free to ask another query.

Regards
