Brief Answer:
Flu symptoms won’t affect gastroscopy results.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Nausea and bloating are the symptoms which can be present with few issues including gastrointestinal infection, constipation or even bowels obstruction. Please note that at your age bowels obstruction should be ruled out at first. It is because the risk of colon cancer significantly increases over the age of 50.
Typical symptoms of bowels obstruction are abdominal cramps, occasional gas obstruction, diarrhea and constipation alternately or even stool obstruction, bloating. Weight loss, weakness and pale skin can be also present.
If you have similar symptoms, abdominal X-ray should be done to rule the obstruction out at first. Colonoscopy should be scheduled.

So in conclusion:
- gastroscopy can be done if you have no bowels obstruction and the results won’t be affected
- If obstruction sounds possible, gastroscopy should be done after ruling it out

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards,
