Suggest Treatment For Muscle Cramps In The Left Shin

Question: Was at computer thought left shin cramping and going to sleep from there down. Got up and moved around didnt go away. After 4 hours pain in shin susided with leg still asleep from shin down. now at 5 hour mark pain seems to have slide up to include underside of YYYY@YYYY

Hello! Thank you for asking HealthCareMagic.
I have gone through your question .

According to what you describe could be muscles cramps, in your case caused by overuse/uncomfortable position of your legs ( after sitting ).

I would reccomend besides taking hot baths and elevating the leg try to:
- Massage the muscles gently.
-Keep stretching the muscles
-Drink planty of water ( dehydration may be one of the reasson of muscles cramping )
-Take painkiller (Ibuprofen /Tylenol )make sure you are not allergic to them first.
-Use ORS ( oral rehydration ) .
-Use cold compreses .
If you take any medication( steroids , statins , diuretics ),could be side effect of the drugs.

These advices may help for temporary relief.

Since you have been for 5 hours with the symptoms and with little improvement i would reccomend to ask for a local doctor .He / She will do some blood test to check the electrolytes in the blood (kalium,calcium, magnesium), low electrolites could be also another reasson, If you have any kidney problems, nerves and the blood vessels .Give you infusion with electrolytes, prescribe muscle relaxant drugs...
