Brief Answer:
May not require treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
Usually in kids, unless severe , molluscum might fade on its own. You can wait for 2 weeks to see if the lesions go away.
Can you let me know how many and where are these lesions?
If the lesions are plenty or if they persist ( even few) , you might need treatment because of chance of autoinoculation and spread.
Curettage gives the best results but may not be tolerated without adequate anesthesia.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved none of the topical or intralesional agents for treatment of molluscum contagiosum.
So in my opinion, based on the current scientific facts
1) wait
2) If not fading , curettage with proper anesthesia

Wishing your child good recovery

Thank you doctor.

Its been about a month.
- started with 2 on the neck.
- another 3 near neck/shoulder
- about 4 very small spots on upper leg which seems to have subsided

How do i know how long to wait for?

Brief Answer:
see below

Detailed Answer:
If some lesions have already subsided, then you safely wait for one more month to see if the other lesions start fading. If not, then you need to treat them.
