Suggest Treatment For Migraine Headaches Which Dies Down After Vomiting

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Nov 2015
Question: I am suffering from migraine headache. I have tried multiple treatment from MD medicine as well as homeopathy doctors but didn't get any relief. I know there is no complete cure for this but even while taking medicine, the frequency of migraine pain attacks kept on increasing. I generally suffer from this once a week and sometimes twice a week & after a day long pain, get relief after vomiting out & taking a nap in dark room.
Currently I am taking only VASOGRAIN as SOS drug & undergoing no other treatment. Please help me to reduce the pain.

Brief Answer:
Migraine prophylaxis is needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

I appreciate your problem. The frequency is too high to interrupt your daily life. Generally migraine stay for good long 8 to 12 hours before they subside on their own or with medication. At this juncture I suggest you to keep a record of the events and report to the doctor. What happens before the attack, when the attack comes, how long will it stay and what medicines work for you? I also suggest you to download a XXXXXXX app called MIGRAINE BUDDY which can help you track the migraine events and record them including your sleep.

The doctor/Neurologist can prescribe you migraine prophylaxis and believe me this can be easily altered in the form of reduced frequency and the intensity as well. THis is proven effective for majority but has to be used for at least 3 months to take its effect. Propranolol, Flunarizine, Topiramate etc are frequently used for prophylaxis. Vasograin is only for acute attack and does not help to prevent recurrence.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further queries else you can close our discussion here.

Really thanks for the details..

I generally feel migraine pain already started when i get up in the morning & it stays till the day ends. It generally ends up after going home from office and vomiting out all the food & then apply zandu balm on forehead & take a nap in the dark silent room. And as the frequency is almost twice a week, so my personal as well as professional life is very much disturbed. So need to get some more info on below:

Is there any side effect of any of the the suggested treatment?

also can you please brief me about other factors which can be beneficial in migraine... like eating things or restricting some specific foods.. any sleeping habit or exercises. Any natural home therapy which might be beneficial.

Also can you please suggest some good doctor/neurologist in XXXXXXX (Maharashtra) as I work as software engineer in XXXXXXX

Descriptive answer will be highly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Active life style with migraine prophylaxis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

If you are having headache right from the bed, you should better take pain killer like HIFENAC P tablet one immediately along with breakfast. Never skip any meal and this actually increases if you skip meal. Try to maintain timing for every meal and activity in your day. Dehydration or less intake of water can contribute to migraine. If you are in XXXXXXX early morning walk for 30 min will definitely help you breath in fresh air. More oxygen helps the migrainers blood vessels. Practice this eventually your will have lesser attacks.

Natural remedies are many but you can choose whatever help you. Personally I feel you can take one lemon with two tsp of HIMALAYAN PINK SALT in one glass of water. This can increase the serotonin levels in the brain and help quicker relief. There is no restriction of food except for processed food and food that is prepared with longer shelf life. So fresh food is always preferable.

Migraine prophylaxis is not known to cause side effects. This is because the doses are so low that there will not be any affect on your other systems.

You can meet Dr Dr. XXXXXXX Ostwal Neurologist in XXXXXXX
Neurology Clinic, Shop No 5, TaneshQ Icon, Near Spandan hospital, Aundh-Ravet Road, Dange Chowk , XXXXXXX

Hope this helps.
