default
Posted on Fri, 2 Jan 2015
Question: I have small, hard lump bigger than a match head but smaller than a pea on the left side of my labia minora. It's not painful at all. Should I see a doctor and if so, is it urgent?

Brief Answer:
It might not be a emergency

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion the lump on the side of labia minora might be due to many causes like:-
1) Bartholin cyst- It is the infection of bartholin gland. If it is small there might not be any symptoms.
2) Sebaceous cyst-It is the infection of sebaceous gland.
3) Lipoma-It is a benign tumor arising from underneath fat tissue below the skin. It is asymptomatic and harmless.

So the lump in your case might be any of the above. But clinical examination will perfectly diagnose the condition.
As there are no symptoms it’s not an emergency. But do observe the lump for any increase in size or redness or pain and fever.
If you see any above changes then you can consult the doctor. Nothing to worry about that just you might need a course of antibiotics. Otherwise just observation is enough. Sometimes it might resolve spontaneously without any intervention.

Hope this satisfies your query.
