Suggest Treatment For Lump In Armpit

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Mar 2017
Question: I've had a lump in my armpit that has gradually increased in size over the years. When I first noticed it about 4-5 years ago it was probably the size of a small grape and now I'd say its the size of a golf ball (although not round shaped) or a little bigger. It is fairly soft to the touch and doesn't hurt however i have been feeling some discomfort in my arm. I also have a smaller lump on my right peck.Is this something I should be concerned about

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your symptoms and history and following is my answer:

Since you have felt this lump from 4-5 years now, one of the most common reason is a lipoma (accumulation of fat tissue). It correlates with your symptoms, it gets bigger with the passing of time, doesn't hurt, soft to touch. The discomfort that you've described might be due to the contact to the nerves near it and the veins of the armpit.

I'd suggest you do an ultrasound of this lump and consult a surgeon. If needed s/he will ask for a fine needle biopsy for the diagnose and do a surgery to remove the lipoma.

Don't worry, if this is the diagnosis, it is a benign condition and it can be removed easily.

Wish you good health.

If you have any other question, don't hesitate to contact me.
