Question: I have severe lower back pain. I cant sit or stand. Lying down helps, but it is still there. Now along with the back Paine I have pelvic pain. I do not have a uterus as it was removed in 2013 for a procedure I had to have done. I have an appointment with a specialist on the 23rd of this month but don't know if I should go and get some X-rays now?? It is the weekend
Thanks so much, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Pain killer and hot compress can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain of the lower side of your back can be due to-
1. Lumbar muscle strain- due to tear or pull of muscle fibres.
2. Infections like paraspinal abscess.
3. Lumbar disc herniation, sciatica, etc.
4. Arthritis or ankylosing spondylosis.
5. Weak core muscles-Strengthening the muscles that support the spine helps keep the spine in its proper position and reduce risk of sprains, strains and lower back pain.
6. Vitamin D3 deficiency.
Proper diagnosis involves investigations like ultrasound of the abdomen, X-ray and MRI of the spine after an examination by the specialist.
The treatment will then depend on the cause.
Hot fomentation and oral muscle relaxants can provide a temporary relief till then.
Lie on hard bed. Avoid forward bending and lifting heavy weight.
You can take anti inflammatory drug like ibuprofen to relieve pain.
You can wait till 23rd to meet the specialist.
I hope this answers your query.
