Question: I was walking my german shepherd dog and she took off after a skunk. I dove to grab her & felt a pull up the back of my thigh, groin, and butt. I am in a lot of pain, sitting, standing, laying. Should I wait until tomorrow to go to urgent care, or should I go to the ER tonight? thank you

Brief Answer:
Lumbago most likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely Lumbago (back muscle strain). Stiff lower back and difficulty is bending down is characteristic for this.
You can do hot fomentations (warm compress) on lower back with the help of some one. After that you can apply gels containing NSAIDs like ketoprofen or Diclofenac (Volini) for local application. Taking NSAIDs like Iburofen (motrin) 400mg twice or thrice daily after food also helps. This is available as over the counter. You should also take rest from hard physical activities for 3 days. Sleep on hard mattress also.
If there is no improvement after 3 days or worsening then you should consult an orthopaedician. In that case muscle relaxants will be needed and X ray of lumbosacral spine should be taken to rule out other injuries also.
So it is ok to wait. No need to rush to ER.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
