Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: I have had a lower abdominal pain about an inch or two my belly button and about an inch to the right of midline. I have for the last twenty days doing exercises every morning, including planks, situps and pushups. I felt a strain in the area I described about a week ago. I can feel a pull or pain there in those various exercises, and when bearing down. This morning, I noticed by penile shaft, about half of it, the half closest to my body, is purple and looks bruised, although there is no pain on the shaft or in the location of any of the discoloration. Need some idea of what could be going on.

Brief Answer:
Most probably tear of muscle and hematoma formation

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Your history is very much suggestive of the muscle tear in the area of pain. By virtue of the potential passages under the skin the blood has trickled down to the penile shaft giving it the appearance of being bruised.
This is usually a painless process unless the pressure of the hematoma is too much.

I would advise you the following:
-Stop exercises , in fact any movement that can cause the bleeding to increase.
-Consult a General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, actual physical examination.
High resolution Ultrasonography of hte abdominal wall with color doppler examination or a CT scan to confirm the reasons.
-Management:
Whether to explore to see what exactly happened, control of bleeding, evacuation of he hematoma by surgery or to manage this conservatively will be the decision of the treating Surgeon.

Do nothing on your own till you are seen by a Surgeon.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications if you feel there is a gap of communication.
