Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal And Testicular Pain While Having Varicocele

default
Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: HI,
I have pain in testicular area and lower abdomen since 2 months (not together, it moves from sometimes in left to right side or from testicular area to lower abdomen). The pain increases/decreases during the day and sometimes become very very noticable and irritating. General surgeon said its bi lateral grade 1 varicocele. Earlier it was thought to be epididymititis and I was given 2 courses of antibiotics but they did not help.
Since last month I am taking daflon 500 3 times a week, after 1 week of taking daflon the pain was almost gone and only slight discomfort was there. Also I was working out in gym with light weights during that period. But after 10 days the pain gradually came back. Is this because of workout as I have started using moderate weights again? Or the pain will go away again? Is this kind of pain due to varicocele or this might be something else? Also, from past few days I feel urinating feeling in my lower abdomen when i try to pull some heavy weight (only during the process of pulling the weight not at any other time).

Brief Answer:
It is best to get operated at the earliest.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Since a surgeon has examined you, you can safely assume that you have a varicocele and not something else to which you could attribute the pain. A structural variation predisposed you to have this condition. The condition and the associated pain gets aggravated on anything that could increase the intra-abdominal pressure. Thus workout and certain exercises including pulling of moderate or heavy weight can aggravate the pain and you have guessed it right. Pain medication may provide transient relief but it is best to get a surgical correction done at the earliest.
