Suggest Treatment For Low Grade Fever And Calcification In The Left Breast

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Mar 2017
Question: Hi Dr. XXXXXXX I had a baby five years ago and experienced breast engorgement and low grade fever. I was found to have calcifications on my left breast that were very faint and difficult to see on a baseline screening mammogram with an undefined shadow in the same breast on an ultrasound but not directly where the calcifications were seen. I have heterogeneously dense breast tissue and am 38 years old. The radiologist was not too alarmed with the findings but suggested a biopsy to be 100 percent sure the findings are benign. Is there a high chance the calcifications were caused by the engorgement of the breasts and the shadow is related to overlapping dense breast tissue? Thanks for your help.
