Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Concentration
Question: Hi,
I am a graduate student who is in an accelerated pace advanced pathophysiology course. I am having an extremely difficult time reading the material because I cannot seem to concentrate long enough to retain the information. I read a few sentences and my mind drifts off to other parts of the book or other topics. This kind of distraction happens constantly. I am looking to see if there are any suggestions for something that will help with this problem. I am 31, am healthy, have no medical problems, no allergies and take no medications at home. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your problem is lack of concentration . This is common symptom of attention deficit disorder (ADD). You can be helped with medication like amphatamines, atomoxetine or bupropion after diagnosis is confirmed. This disorder is treated by psychiatrist.
For diagnosis detail history and mental status examination are required.
You need to consult psychiatrist for the same.
Other possibility is depression in which lack of concentration is there. In that prominent symptom is sad mood.
It is good that you are overall healthy.
