Suggest Treatment For Liver Inflammation

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Mar 2015
Question: My daughter has just been told that she has liver inflammation. What should she do to follow up. We have a huge family history of cancer for four generations and she has had a precancerous polyp removed from her bowel a couple of years ago. She had another colonoscopy ....they found two more but failed to remove them.
Is there a cost for this information. If there is a cost - please cancel.

Brief Answer:
Needs management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Hypertension of your daughter may be secondary to anxiety and stress as you mentioned her relation with 16 yr old daughter. But let her modify her diet and reduce salt intake and see if it brings the blood pressure back to normal. Medications can wait. The headaches symptoms and all other complaints are mostly due to this raised blood pressure which is still borderline and can be controlled.

As far as her liver inflammation is concerned it would have been better if you would have shared the liver work up with us so that we could understand what inflammation are we talking about. Alcohol if she drinks might be the cause of this inflammation as people try to mask their grief with alcohol. Just Stay in touch with your doctor and liver inflammation will subside.

Now the family history of colon cancer and already removal of precancerous lesions from her gut make her a high risk of malignancies and that needs yearly screening to diagnose any lesion at earliest stage. But that is unlikely the reason for this liver inflammation.

Nutshell, modify diet and lifestyle for blood pressure, do as directed for liver and get regular screening for colon polyps.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan

Thank you.
My daughter does NOT drink alcohol much. Perhaps a glass per week.
High blood pressure - was given medication for that.
Has been on a Paleo diet for past 12 months so eating well.

The Doctor DID NOT give any follow up details for liver. That is why I contacted you. Should we be worried or doing anything given the cancer history in our family.

What could be the cause and what should we be doing - more tests - find the cause etc.

e.g. Great grandmother - Olive - 75 years of age - bowel cancer -
terminal
2nd GENERATION
Grandfather - prostrate 50 yrs
- bowel 75 yrs
Great Uncle - prostate 70 yrs
3rd GENERATION
Auntie - bowel 53 yrs DIED 57 years from secondaries
Mum - ovarian 54 yrs
- breast 60 yrs
Auntie - ovarian 49 yrs
Cousin XXXXXXX - breast 42 yrs
4th GENERATION
Cousin XXXXXXX - cervical 32 yrs
Brother XXXXXXX - bowel 35 years
XXXXXXX - bowel 40 years

These people are all direct decendents of Olive

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me
As I mentioned earlier her liver inflammation needs to be looked at on the lab reports done and only then I can help what is going on.
Likely suspicion of hepatitis is due to the paleolithic diet and some of that might be proving hepatotoxic.
Now the exact diagnosis is not possible as lab works are not attached but I am sure your doctor has taken care of that.
As per malignancy odds I already explained that she is a high risk due to family history and needs yearly screening and a regular followup.
I hope you got point.

Take care
Khan
