Question: My BP is 180/101. No real symptoms other than just a little light headed. Should I be doing something? Am on Losartan 50mg per day.

Brief Answer:
YES, this is too high and shows poor response to treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this elevated blood pressure reading that you have reported. This is too high and being on treatment shows that the treatments needs to be reviewed and adjusted. Probably, losartan alone is not sufficient to control your blood pressure. I will recommend your doctor considers adding another class of medication like a diuretic or Beta blocker to help lower this blood pressure to treatment goal of less than 140/90.

In all, it is too high. If they stay this elevated for a couple of days, it would be nice to talk to your doctor for treatment review and drug modifications.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
