Posted on Thu, 5 Feb 2015
Question: Hi, I am from XXXXXXX
I am 30 weeks pregnant according to my LMP. But as per Foetal biometry the gestational age is 28 weeks only ie lagging by 2 weeks. Also, my AFI is 7.
Have been advised Arginine Plus 1 XXXXXXX daily and Silnafil Tablets thrice daily.

Kindly tell me 1) whether taking above medicines would cover the growth difference of my baby.
2) The weight of my baby now is 1192 gms. Whether it will increase to a healthy baby weight.
3) What is the solution to low amniotic fluid? How can I retain this fliud till the last week of pregnancy ie till atleast 40th week?
4) Drs are saying that the nutrition through my placenta is not proper to the baby hence the difference in growth rate. What is the solution?

Kindly help i am very much worried.

Brief Answer:
Liquor volume is too less.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
1. At 30 weeks gestation, a lag of growth by 2 weeks is too much. The liquor of your baby is also too low. AFI=7. The medicines that have been given can only help in preventing the further deterioration in the growth. You need to take proper protein rich diet and adequate fluid intake with proper rest in addition to the medicines to prevent further deterioration.
2. The baby weight will gradually increase with gestational age but it is less likely to reach a healthy weight even with best medicines and diet.
3. You need to have medicines with protein rich diet like pulses, milk and eggs to increase the fluid volume. Do monitor your BP regularly and get a repeat ultrasound scan done every 2 weeks to see the progress.
4. As already mentioned, you can improve the nutrition by taking proper diet and fluids. Also lie in left lateral position. Do not lie on your back while resting to have a better placental circulation. Get proper monitoring done for blood pressure and blood glucose levels.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
