Hello and thanks for the query,

This is an excellent question. It sounds like your mother has endure quite a bit since her diagnosis and I hope the news has been good from the oncologist. As you know, the treatments for breast cancer are not easy but the outcomes can be amazing with many patients achieving cure and some patients living many many years with cancer under control with the help of the science of medical oncology.

The chemotherapy disturbs the normal balance of things within the body and it can take several months for this balance to return. In the case of your mom this may be what is going on. I would recommend good well balanced diet and actually daily exercise to help facilitate and maintain mobility.

Some patients will use glucosamine or chondroitin which are available over the counter. Talk to your natural food specialist about these as this might help.

Again I cannot emphasize the importance of movement --- exercise as a good way to promote better musculoskeletal health. Please review this with your mother. Your encouragement, support and enthusiasm means the world to her and is a vital aspect in promoting her recovery.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga

Thank you so much doctor for your meaningful reply. She had ET scan after completing the treatment, and it was okay. So your advice is diet food and keep doing exercise. Is there any food you recommend. She likes red meat a lot, and I'm trying to stop her from doing that.

Detailed Answer:
A well balanced diet can include some red meat if that is her preference. Everything in moderation of course.

otherwise I recommend a balance of fresh fruits and vegetables - salads are a easy and delicious way to make this a part of a daily routine.

Yes daily exercise is very important. a walk - some light weight lifting - a swim Etc. all of these can be helpful.

no need to buy expensive food supplements. a good diet will take care of that.

All the best,
