Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Abdomen
Question: Over course of just a few minutes, have developed rash, itchy and puffy skin, in pubic/lower abdomen area. CT Scan yesterday done due to recent abdominal pain; results showed no masses, just severe constipation. Could rash and abdomen pain be caused by increased sugar intake? I have consumed more sugar in last few days than in last 6 months....some websites state correlation between sugar, constipation, and rashes. Fasting glucose was 89, no diabetes diagnosis ever. Take cholesterol and hypertension medication.

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.
1. You say to have developed rash, itchy and puffy skin over course of just few minutes. Can you please send a photo to me of the affected area so I can analyze myself?
Increased sugar intake can cause candida overgrowth which might explain the rash on your pubic/lower abdominal area.
Fungal infection other than candida is also to consider after evaluating the changes on the affected skin myself.
2. If the rash started after ct scan and if XXXXXXX was used during the ct-scan procedure, then, allergic reaction is also to consider.
3. If ct-scan reported constipation, it means that your bowels are not moving normally as it should be although you might have up to 3 bowel movements per day.
You might have had bowel movement but your bowels were not emptied totally; this is reported by ct-scan.

I have no way to take or send picture to you. No contrast XXXXXXX was used on Wednesday with the ct scan so don't believe rash, itchiness is related to the scan. I used some betamethasone (sp) cream on the area last night with some improvement this morning. My concern was how quickly the rash appeared and how mottled and itchy my skin got so quickly. QUESTION...if rash, itchiness persists, should I make appt with dermatologist or gastro Dr for followup? I also see a naturopath nutrtitionist...maybe that would be way to go. Don't want to make lots of appts, would appreciate your guidance which medical path to take. Thank you.

Thank you for your help; I really appreciate it. The rash, swelling, and mottling is gone; I think it is a mosquito bite! I have seen some outside and in the house and my skin has always been very sensitive and really reacts to bites. I was mostly worried that my skin was reacting to what was going on in my digestive tract. But I have gotten some fresh fruit, ground flax seed, and prunes and things are moving right along! No more sugar for me. And as my skin has settled down, I can better see the delineation of the insect bite which is somewhat better. So, hopefully, all will be ok. Thank you again.
