Question: What is this on my foot?

my skin was itchy and I scratched it and then skin just came off and clear fluid came out. It wasn't a blister or anything.

then little bumps with fluid in them appeared around it.

Brief Answer:
Friction causes peeling of the skin and therefore the related kind of skin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,

Welcome back and thanks for posting the details.

Let me first reassure you that this is a normal usually seen condition and there is nothing serious in this condition. As I can make out that you are expecting at this time and that too in final stage, so this could be one of the important precipitating factor in your condition.

It is due to the fact that in last trimester of pregnancy, there is more edema of feet and therefore more accumulation of water in feet. This induces more swelling on one side of lower limb. Whenever we wear our usual shoes or related thing then this edema induces more friction at the area.

This friction causes peeling of the skin and therefore the related kind of skin condition.

In your kind of condition I suggest my patients to wear lose and soft slippers. DO not try to peel off the skin as it cause secondary infection to the area. If required you can apply a cream containing Mupirocin at the affected area. There is no other active intervention required at this time. You can take further guidance from your treating doctor if required.

I hope this information will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.

"Wish you good health and early recovery from the problem"

Regards,
Dr Sanjay Kumar Kanodia
