If the sore is oozing pus that means its infective.
You need to take a course of oral as well as topical antibiotics.
Cortisone cream won't be effective in this case.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply neosporin ointment on the sore twice daily along with tablet Cefixime 200 mg twice daily for 5-7 days.
For itching you can take tablet Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
Oral antibiotics are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
