Brief Answer:
Possible diagnosis: Allergic contact dermatitis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The itchy rash you developed is likely to be an allergic reaction to any of the products you applied to the area.

Avoid using any pain relieving creams or oils on the area. You can also apply hydrocortisone cream on the rash.

As far as torn muscle, take adequate rest. Apply ice to the area for pain relief. You can also take Advil to reduce pain and inflammation.

Hope this answers your questions.

Please let me know if you need further clarification.

Regards.

I've been doing more research.
Could it be shingles?

Brief Answer:
Shingles are unlikely.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Shingles is definitely a possibility especially if blistering is present.

However, shingles tend to be localized to a single dermatome (area supplied by a single nerve). In the picture you shared the rash seems to be crossing dermatome. And you seemed to have a history of applying multiple pain relieving ointments on the area before the rash developed.

So allergic dermatitis is a more likely possibility than shingles in your case. But for confirmation, microscopic evaluation of blister fluid (if present) is required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

The blistering rash is all on my left upper side. A line across armpit toward spine about 3 inches, and another line parallel to my spine about 4 inches.

A couple blisters have popped and have little scabs now.
Still very itchy and painful at times

Brief Answer:
Shingles need to be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Your description of blistering, scabbing and burning sensation definitely raises the concern for shingles. Physical examination and Tzank smear (if needed) can confirm the diagnosis. Please be advised t follow up with your primary provider for the necessary evaluation. Please be advised to stop hydrocortisone cream if you are using it.

Once shingles are confirmed, capsaicin cream can be used instead to reduce pain and itching. You can also take cetirizine at bedtime it itching is too bothersome. Also, apply ice to the area for relief.

Hope I have answered your query.
