Brief Answer:
Anti fungal ointments and moisturisers will be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Decreased moisturization and fungal infection can be the reason. Using anti fungal ointments like miconazole or terbinafine for local application will be helpful. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the anal area. You can use just warm water. Emollient cream (containing Liquid paraffin) also can be used for moisturization.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

Thank you for your follow up query.

You need to apply anti fungal ointment or cream continuously for 2 weeks at least. Miconazole nitrate generic cream is available over the counter. Terbinafine ointment/cream is available as over the counter in brands like Lamisil also.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

Will this cream be safe for the rectum?

Answered by Dr. Nishad BN (22 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No for rectum you have to use rectal suppository.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

Thank you for your follow up.

For rectum this should not be used. You can use rectal suppository of miconazole for this.
Also if you have anal fissures you have to take stool softeners like lactulose or sorbitol syrup. take dried prunes or prune juice is also good. Take plenty of plain water also. You can use warm water to pour on anal area before and after passing stool for giving relaxation for anal sphincter which will ease healing of fissure.

Thanks.
