Posted on Fri, 4 Apr 2014
Question: What is this on my Hiney. Is it acne or folliculitis maybe? I never had acne anywhere or if so maybe one pimple at a time. This started in January i had several like now, then it went away but I had the occasional 2 -3 on average. now i have more as i did in January and some of them scare... sometimes I will get a overwhelming itching sensation for a second or two then it immediately stops.... I only get that itching sensation once or twice a day other that that I don't know it's even there unless I look... So no, the whole area isn't all the time itchy. But really!!! This is becoming annoying.... The first picture is from now and the second is from January

Brief Answer: probably scabies Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the query and photograph. I can see most of the lesions are formed due to scratching, hence itching appears to be your main problem. It is not looking like folliculitis or acne. The most probable diagnosis appears to be scabies. Atypical scabies can present in any form involving any part of body. I prescribe ointment permethrin to my patients and they get good response to it. You can get it prescribed and give it a try. Also take an anti histamine tablet to control itch. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you

Scabies would have been the last thing I would have ever think. I have been with the same person forever. Isn't that transmitted sexually? If I haven't gotten it in 10yrs I'm sure not going to come up with it now? It there any other way to get scabies...???

Brief Answer: it can spread by many ways Detailed Answer: Hello Sexual transmission is one way but not the only way. Scabies is caused by mite and can be spread through any mode like pets. Using public seats and sofas. Shaking hand with an infected person. There is no definitive way to diagnose scabies. Its will be better if you apply anti scabies lotion. It is safe and you may get relief with it. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you

Hello again, I thank you for you help! After you telling me I possibly had scabies I immediately scheduled an appointment. I was a mental mess at the thought of that. Thank god that scabies is not what I had. I was given prednisone cream and its cleared all up. I am so relieved...... Thanks you for your help..
