Question: I am 75 years old, and I have genital herpes. The herpes were not activated until 20 years ago.
The medication was given was a 500 mg Valacyclovir Tab, to be taken twice a day. For the last 8 month the medication is not working. The out break, and the itchiness are a constant , and very uncomfortable
reminder of my ex-husband. Please is there a different better way to treat this? Thank you for your help!

Brief Answer:
Your immunity needs to be boosted.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Herpes, be it genital or somewhere else, is a disease that tends to stay dormant in the nerve endings. Hence once infected, the chance of recurrence remains. The recurrence occurs only when your immunity gets depressed. Cold temperature depresses our immunity. There are a host of factors that depress our immunity. On the other hand, healthy habits boost our immunty. I would insist you to walk regularly in the morning, avoid junk food and to take plenty of colourful fruits and vegetables (since they contain plenty of antioxidants that boost our immunity). I am sure that these would help in reducing the recurrence rate. There is no better way that could be offered.
