Suggest Treatment For Intermittent Pain In Lower Bottom Tooth Shooting Up To Ear

default
Posted on Sat, 23 May 2015
Question: About a week and a half ago I started to have intermitent pain in the lower bottom tooth. I thought maybe I have cracked my crown or maybe it was loose. This went on for a few days and then the left side of my tongue started having random sharps pains and feels like it has a deep bruise in it. Some pains shoot up to my ear. It doesn't hurt all the time just randomly and sometimes with salivation. I have been using sours lemon drops, pickle juice and lemon juice to try and make it happen. Sometimes it hurts and other times it don't. I went to the dentist and X-ray showed maybe the beginning of an abscess but not sure. They gave me Pen VK to take and said if it's the tooth this should help. If not to let them know but no other recommendation. The first day of penicillin the pain got worse and the second day is not any better. I've never had tongue pain and soreness like this before and no sign of any sores or redness seen. Any suggestions?

Frictional keratosis , caries , periodontal abscess .

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX.

Thanks for consulting Healthcare magic .
This is Dr. Priyanka Tiwari answering your query .

Read your query and understand your concern as far as tongue pain and soreness is concerned it can be due to chronic irritation of sharp cusps of posterior ( molar ) teeth resulting in Frictional keratosis .
As you have pain in tooth this can be due to dental infection carious tooth (periapical abscess ) or due to Periodontal abscess ( gingival abscess ) secondary to gum infection because of deposits .

For this I will suggest you to consult oral surgeon and gone through treatment rounding of sharp cusps . Inmeantime you can apply ointment like Mucopain or Dologel on tongue . Do warm saline rinses . You can take course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin and Metronidazole (if you are not allergic ) .

These are the possible causes , diagnosis and description based on the details you have provided . If you can upload image of tongue and tooth that will be more helpful for me to give you proper diagnosis and treatment plan .

Hope I have answered your query .
If you have further query I will be happy to help .
