Posted on Wed, 12 Aug 2015
Question: I am 47 year old female . I've had 4 knee surgeries since 4/14. Started as a bakers cyst and torn cartilage. The cyst returned and more torn cartilage surgery 2 then partial knee replacement of the patellar . The prosthetic has not felt normal since the day I stood on it. It's very foreign sometimes nauseating. I continue to have fluid and swelling. It feels as if the kneecap is not tracking or not the right size. I'm completely compliant. I also have sensativity to touch the top of the kneecap. Is this possible that I am rejecting this implant!
Please help I'm out of options !

Brief Answer:
May be body reaction to implant.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. It is possible that your body is not accepting the patellar implant. Implant is not suiting your body. It may be possible Your body is trying to reject the implant. One of treatment option is analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain and swelling reduction. Another option can be total patellectomy ( removal of patella and patellar implant)operation. I can help you better if you upload x ray of effected knee.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
You are on correct primary treatment.,

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
You are already on correct primary treatment that is anti inflammatory, icing and elevation. You are likely to get benefitted by it. Otherwise other options such as patellectomy can be considered.
Everything else already discussed.
