Posted on Mon, 7 Nov 2016
Question: someone took some bone out of my hip to put bone into the maxilla, I heard him say there wasn't enough of my own bone to attatch the bone from the hip so he mixed my bone with zinc oxide and put that combined my bone and zinc oxide into the maxilla; the problem is I have a serious allergy to zinc triple plus; I am in pain and he threatened me so I cannot go back to him; I was wearing caution allergy bracelets; what can I do on my own to get the zinc to come out of the graft and there is not much bone so I need to get the zinc out of the graft which is my own bone plus zinc oxide; and leave the bone; I am in significant pain Is the pain from the zinc oxide or a previous bone infection serratia; and or a localized malignancy of the sinus; It has been for two and a half years I was in too much pain to tell them to resuscitate my mother and the zinc allergy has been confirmed by three allergists;

Hi XXXX

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

How was your day?

Hope this message finds you in good health.

I have gone through your query in detail and understand your concern.

To me this seems to be from allergy to zinc. its very less likely that you still will be having any kind of infection in that area.

Malignancy, well its a possibility and depends on your immunity and other symptoms.

Zinc oxide , after so many years cannot be removed out as it may have been amalgamated with your natural bone till now.

You can consult a physician and get a detailed blood profile done to rule out all the possibilities

Till then anti inflammatory and anti histaminic tablets will help.

Avoid strong dose painkillers, unless only if the pain is severe enough

You should eventually get back to normal in coming few days. Drink cleaner water. Nothing to worry about.

I hope your question has been answered.

Feel free to consult me anytime for follow-up queries.

Take care,God bless.
Wish you a healthy life : )

problem is this allergy has been over a two year period and the antihistamine and allergy medications are not working. I am bedridden as a result of the pain. my face and eyes are swollen shut most of the time. I use astelyine which works for about fifteen minutes after I spray. I look so terrible and so swollen I look as if I was just stung by a bee and need to be in the er. I am allergic to bees and as a child if stung had to go to an emergency room.
my blood test shows zinc but not as yet toxic. I am severely allergic to any product that contains zinc. I had allergy testing with a dr scheinman at tufts medical center a year ago and she said don't let the dentists or plastic surgeons use any product that contained zinc. most of the dental products and products for plastic surgery in the nose and face contain zinc oxide. I have a rare allergy zinc 3 plus.
problem you say nothing to worry about.. I am an attorney and I cant practice. my appearance is alarming. I cant leave the house and when I do I am stared at. I cannot practice law as my pain level is beyond human comprehension on a scale of 1 to 10 10 plus.

Hi dear XXXX

Welcome back

i understand the pain and agony that you have been going through and as a doctor my sympathy always stands with you.

but the fact is that the zinc oxide that was mixed with your bone during the surgery cannot be separated out now.

to study the extent of the damage that zinc has done, you can get a ct scan of the concerned part. a oromaxillary facial surgeon, will be the best person to treat you in this case.
taking any kind of tablets is going to help you only temporarily and i suggest you not to take too many tablets to avoid long term adverse effects on the kidneys and liver

I hope your question has been answered.
