Suggest Treatment For Improper Milk Intake By An Infant
Question: My born was born preterm at 34 weeks 5 days.
She is now 16 days old.
I am facing lots of issue in feeding her. She does not suck my breast properly and so she is never satisfied with breastfeed. I tried bottle and she was doing good but doctor asked me to stop bottle and switch to spoon.
But she is not feeding properly with spoon. She is throwing away most of the milk.
is feeding with dropper a safe option.
she is having pellet like potty from 2 days.
i read this is a sign of constipation?

Brief Answer:
Do not give bottle feeding - feed with spoon or dropper
Detailed Answer:
Hi...I understand your concern.
Please put her to breast and after that if she is still unsatisfied then - feed her with formula feeds with spoon or dropper.
If you feed her with bottle then she will completely stop the breast feeding which is not at all good in the long run.
Babies of this age will not pass motion sometimes even for 10 days. This will be even more pronounced if the formula feed is being given.
So pellet like stools for 2 days does not amount to constipation.
