Brief Answer:
Review of blood pressure and medications

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Diovan (Valsartan) is an effective antihypertensive medication. It should be taken regularly for effective results. Not taking blood pressure medications may be hazardous to your health. A blood pressure of more than 140/ 90 mm Hg is termed high blood pressure. The first line of management includes dietary modification and reducing salt in your diet. As you are dealing with a seriously ill child, it may also be due to stress related anxiety. Most of the time we are able to adapt to the stress and perform our daily work normally. If your daily work is getting affected then you may have to consult a mental health professional for proper guidance towards minimizing stress.

Coming to your specific query if blood pressure recording of 150/ 105 mm Hg is an urgent matter, it is important to know the blood pressure recording at rest. You need to get your blood pressure recorded at a particular time each day for 3 days. You should be at rest for 30 minutes before recording the the blood pressure. If the blood pressure is above 140/ 90 mm Hg on all 3 days then you need to consult your doctor and discuss medications and improving your lifestyle. Once you start medications, you should continue regular treatment any alterations should be done only under medical supervision. This is because high blood pressure of even 150/ 105 mm Hg can lead to serious conditions like strokes if not managed properly.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any further doubts.
