Brief Answer:
I hope your query is about High Blood pressure and Cholesterol

Detailed Answer:
Hi There

I understand your concern, I'm Dr.Bhanu Partap and I am cardiology practioner.

High blood pressure and cholesterol could very well be treated by lifestyle modification and medicine combination. The normal recommended range of normal blood pressure for an adult is less than 140/90 mmHg and that of total cholesterol is less than 200 mg/dL.

Lifestyle modifications include
1. Daily brisk morning walk 45min a day for five days a week.
2. Low dietary salt intake.
3. Avoid chunk, canned, deep fried food items as they have high salt content
4. Include good amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily dietary schedule.
5.STOP SMOKING ( if you do )
6. Avoid excessive intake of caffeine containing drinks like coffee.
7. Stay stress free.

If your BP ranges upto a maximum of 160/100 and if you don't have any family history of heart disease I would like to suggest you to follow these lifestyle modifications regularly for a period of three months and hopefully you are not going to require any medication to control your BP and Cholesterol.

But if your BP goes beyond 160/100 and any of your family member have heart disease then I would like to start you on anti-hypertensives in addition to above lifestyle modifications like BETA BLOCKERS ( Metoprolol) along with daily BP monitoring initially for a period of one week. If your BP falls below 110/60 then stop the medicine.

I hope this information will answer your query. If you don't have any other query kindly close the discussion and rate the answer.

I wish you good health.
