Posted on Mon, 21 Jul 2014
Question: I went to a dermatologist last month, as I had Hyper pigmentation on my forehead ! He said, it is forehead melanosis (hyper pigmentation). He gave me Depiwhite, AHAglow and radiance tablets and Rivela sunscreen 50SPF. It worked in just 4 days and after 2 weeks,, the black patches went away on one side but the other side was much more darker. So again i went to him, he gave me Glyco-A 12% for a night and melaglow for a night ! I continued for 3 days, and noticed some red patches (big circles) on those affected areas. I thought, the bad skin is peeling off ! but continuing another 3 days,, one morning, everything turned dark brown (almost black) :( on those affected areas PLUS, On my cheeks aswel ! I never had anything on my cheeks ! the problem was only on my forehead ! Now i cannot go outta home. Everything turned dark brown ! Advice me on this ! Thanks you so much.

Brief Answer:
Pigmentation face, please provide details

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
I have seen the attached pictures .
I have gone through your treatment history too. You surely have pigmentation over your forehead as well as cheeks.
I really do not think there is anything that grossly wrong with the prescription that you have been given by your treating doctor . I rather feel that the pigmentation is increasing due to its natural course of progression but I would try to help you as much as I can.
There are certain things I would like to know.
What time do you apply melaglow cream and glyco cream. Do you apply them at night only or during day as well?
Do you have any redness, itching or burning sensation over your face at present?
Do you use mustard oil over scalp?

I am sure I will be able to help you more once you provide me the above details .

Thank you so much for answering,
I apply Melaglow one whole night and
I apply Glyco-a another whole night ! The third time i went to doctor, he asked me to wash my face in 1hour, when applied glyco-a but he advised me to apply melaglow the whole night. I apply Rivela sunscreen the whole DAY, twice (washing my face) !

I never had reds before but after applying GLYCO, im had redness and now those redness has become dark brown and yes i do have burning sensation when i touch that or when i apply any of the above cream (only for 5 minutes).

The first day, I had nothing on my face except some dark patheches (light brown) on my forehead. But after applying these, im having on my cheeks aswel ! and the forehead became much darker :(

Brief Answer:
Pigmentation face, take treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Your present problem is that of skin irritation that you have developed due to medicine use.
At present, you should stop application of both melaglow as well as glyco creams.
Start applying momate cream twice a day over the whole face. You can continue to the sunscreen howevet. Continue application of momate cream for atleast three days. This will take care of the skin redness , itching and allergy.
After three days, you can restart application of both melaglow and glyco creams as advised by your doctor. But before application of any of these medicines at night, you should first apply a moisturizer over whole of your face. After this only, you should apply only a little amount of the medicine only over the pigmented areas. Make sure you do not rub the medicine too much.
This is help in better effect of the medicine and will prevent any further irritation or redness.
In the morning, you can continue to apply sunscreen but make sure you apply it atleast thirtyminutes going out in the sun . Re apply it every three hours if you stay out in the sun .
In addition, you can apply kojivit cream over the affected areas in the morning.
This will help in rapid improvement in the skin color.
Avoid using mustard oil over the scalp.
Include more of fresh citrus fruit and salads in your diet.

Hope it helps

Brief Answer:
Regular treatment for pigmentation face

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

The pigmentation that you have developed over your face might take some time to completely go . We cannot really predict the exact time but with continous treatment , you will start noticing the results soon.
As far as your problem of pimples is concerned, one might develop a few lesions over face especially during summers . If the lesions are few and tend to heal on their own, then you might just leave them. Else you can buy an anti acne gel like clindac gel and apply it over the pimples on and off whenever needed.
