Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
According to your complaints it can be a patch of cellulitis but I would recommend you to upload the photographs of the affected area so that I can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly.

Thank you. Yes, you're correct. And that without a photo. I was having trouble uploading the photo--problem on my end, not your web site. We ended up going to ER last night. Glad we did. They said cellulitis as soon as they saw him and heard his symptoms. He's on a couple of antibiotics now and I'm giving him probiotics in between doses.

It is still pretty red. Any idea how long it will take my husband to feel better? The fever is down, but it's still hot and red and painful to the touch. He started Suffamethoxazole, 4 times a day, and Cephalexin twice a day this morning and got the first doses last night at ER.

Good to hear. It is starting to gradually get better. Now he's feeling like eating. He said it's itching a bit too, which I'm thinking is a sign of healing. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Give antihistaminic for itching

Detailed Answer:
Itching in cellulitis is ok.
You can give him antihistaminic like tablet chlorpheniramine 4 mg once daily for few days.
This will take care of itching.
