Brief Answer:
Need good control

Detailed Answer:
Good day
Noted your concern. Uncontrolled diabetes surely has a bad impact on health and can cause diabetes related complications. It is recommended to keep blood glucose close to normal. Say fasting less than 130 and post prandial less than 180. The goals are even more stricter in younger patients and in older patients who are otherwise healthy.

You may require regular novolog before meals three times daily together with Levemir once daily. If you have type 2 diabetes, you will benefit with starting Metformin along with insulin. It has so many good effects, not just on sugar control, but also has cardiovascular protection effects. In fact Metformin is the first drug we start in type 2 diabetes and we usually continue it even after starting Insulin.
