Suggest Treatment For Hiccups Caused After Taking Tramadol?
Question: My husband was givin tramadol after cutting his head open at work. Along with cephalexin. He has had hiccups almost constantly, even during sleep. What can we do??
Brief answer....given below
Detailed answer.....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Tramadol can result in gastritis which in turn can cause continuous hiccups.
How to treat it...
Stop tramadol.
Hold your breath so that carbon dioxide gets accumulated in body.Accumulated carbon dioxide results in relaxing the diaphragm. This is a home remedy.
Start taking proton pump inhibitor like PANTOPROZOLE 40 mg once a day on empty stomach.
If hiccups don't stop, you may take tablet REGLAN ( METOCLOPRAMIDE ) three times a day half hour before your meals for few days.
You should be all right soon.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
