Brief answer....explained below
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
As with all other medications OMEPRAZOLE also does have some side effects like...
Deficiency of VIT B 12 and calcium
Person is more prone for respiratory tract infections and C DIFFICILE infection of gut.
       BUT
Chances of all these side effects are very less and specially if you are using such a low dose of 10 mg everyday.
Chances of side effects are increased if a person is using heavy dose and if he is an elderly person.
What to do for acid reflux...
Basically one has to identify his triggers of problem and then avoiding those triggers and lifestyle changes.
Food triggers are use alcohol, chocolate, mint, garlic, coffee, fatty and fried foods etc.
If any of this troubles you, simply stop it.
Lifestyle changes are...
Reduce weight.
Avoid tight clothes
Take small meals and dont lie down immediately after taking meals
Avoid smoking
Elevation of head end of bed if symptoms are severe
Surgery to be undertaken if symptoms are very severe and not able to get managed by lifestyle changes.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Although the dosage of Omeprazole at 10 mg.is low I would like to get out of this continuous consumption.Taking into consideration my absence of gall bladder and my hiatus hernia condition is there a possibility of going in for a totally harmless medicine?/

Hello,
You can try taking plain antacid syrup like GELUSIL and see the response.
If your symptoms are mild, you should be benefitted by gelusil syrup as well as lifestyle changes.
Thanks
