Question: Hi I have lung cancer that has mestezied into bone cancer. after 6 rounds of chemo the lung nogle has decreased in size as well as the cancer in my hip is healing it's actually growing bone back. however the cancer in my c-1 has grown larger and a new cancer in the center of my back middle vertibre now on Keytruda. 2 weeks before my Keytruda treatment I started getting headaches (which I've never had in my life time) just started GETTING VERY INTENSE. I'm MALE 69 SMOKER (GO FIGURE) I'm NOW ON HYROMORPHONE 4 MG. THIS ONLY TAKES A SLIGHT EDGE OFF FROM A CONSTANT 10 TO AN 8 WHICH I CAN LIVE WITH. MY QUESTION IS THIS THE END STAGE OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME. IN JANUARY WHEN DIAGOUSED DR. SAID I HAD STAGE 4 WITH 9 MONTHS TO A YEAR AND HALF TO LIVE. THESE HEADACHES ARE SO INTENSE AT TIME IT''S DIFFICULT TO EVEN TALK, AND PAINFUL TO OPEN MY MOUTH TO EAT.

Brief Answer:
MRI of brain

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

After hearing your symptoms since you are having headache the lung cancer must have spread to the brain as lung cancer has a tendency to spread to the brain.

I would advise you to do a MRI brain. If it is found it has spread to brain in MRI then brain radiation therapy may be needed. For now you can take steroid group of drugs with your doctors advise.

Also transdermal fentanyl patch can be applied locally to control the pain from headache till your MRI is done. Consult your local doctor regarding it.

Average life span for stage 4 lung cancer even with treatment is only 2 years
