Suggest Treatment For Headaches And Blocked Sensation In Ears

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Jun 2016
Question: My ears are plugged and my head aches. It hurts to bend my head down or back. I think some glands are hurting. I wonder if I could have a sinus infection or just getting some sort of cold.
I have a slight headache also.

Brief Answer:
sinuses are involved , may be due to cold or allergies most commonly

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on the symptoms described, the sinuses can be involved, likely due to a viral infection (the cold, as you mentioned).

Sinus disease can be due to allergies, viral or bacterial infection.
Rarely fungal disease.

The use of an antihistamine decongestant combination would help, these would be over the counter and may be in the form of cough/cold or allergy medication.

Using one such as advil cold/sinus etc would be best because this would contain a pain medication as well to help with the headache and other discomfort.

In addition, a topical decongestant to the nose would also help to relieve any congestion that may be contributing to the headache eg normal saline, xylometazoline,

Warm compress to the face would encourage drainage. Fluid and rest would also be important.

It can take 1 to 2 weeks for symptoms to resolve.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
