Suggest Treatment For Headache And Dizziness

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Nov 2015
Question: I've noticed for the last 3-4 months I can hear my heart beating in my right ear. This morning, and other mornings I've noticed I'm light headed and dizzy, not just upon standing, but, also while sitting. I checked my blood pressure and it's within the normal range. Could it be from "visual overload"-been on the internet and also watching TV, eyes going back and forth between both screens, that's when the dizziness started and it seems to come on when I'm doing this. This happened to me last Sunday, actually started to display signs of a migraine, took aspirin, laid down and put a cold compress to my head. Helped a little bit, but, still had a nagging headache all day.

Brief Answer:
May be migraine but needs examination by neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The complains of headache, dizziness may be due to migraine precipitated by visual flashing stimulation. But complain of tinnitus (heart beating in ear) may require some examination by ENT or neurologist with some investigation(may be Brain imaging).
The treatment for migraine headache comprises management of acute attack with pain killers like naproxen, aspirin, paracetamol or aceclofenac.
The prophylaxis may be given if episodes are frequent or continuous in nature . Drugs like propranolol, topiramate, divalproate, flunarizine or amitriptyline may be taken after prescription from a neurologist.
Is there associated nausea, vomiting, fever, neck pain, hearing loss or ear discharge?
