Suggest Treatment For Hand Tremors In An Elderly Person
Question: For neurologist.......Mom is 92. She is beginning to have tremors in her hands. She notices it and I can see it. It doesnt happen all the time but more frequently. ... both hands. What should i do to help her decide what is the cause and treatment? She is anemic and hgb is 10.8... common for her. One kidney. What reading on a blood test might show any cause?? She has s blood test every month. Ferritin is 35.

Treatment depends on cause.

Since the tremor is more noticeable when trying to reach something (action tremor) Parkinson's is very unlikely to be the condition that is causing it.
Some degree of tremor is expected with aging, however conditions such as stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, metabolic abnormalities should be evaluated before suspecting the culprit to aging.
Like I said before, clinical evaluation by a Neurologist and probably a brain MRI could give sufficient information about the tremor source.
