Suggest Treatment For Genital Dysaesthesia

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Nov 2014
Question: I have an embarassing condition known as Genital Dysaesthesia. I believe it developed after using Trimix injections into the penis and having several prolonged erections some lasting four hours. I've been advised to consult a Neurologist and have an appointment on November 13, but in the meantime I am really suffering. Are there any interventions for this condition - I need a sense of hope. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Treatment will be based on evaluation...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Based on the details provided and the contents discussed with previous doctor, I learnt that you suffer from glans penis hypersensitivity which is supposed to be caused by genital dysesthesia.

Now, intracavernous injections with Trimix rarely causes permanent neurological deficits unless it was injected using wrong technique / wrong site. Further penile structures return back to the previous state after 4 hours of erection. Therefore I am not sure the cause of genital dysesthesia was related to those injections.
Off-course I will look for the neurologist confirmation on this topic.

At this point of time, if there was a neurological cause to this problem treatment in the form of neurovitamins and pain threshold lowering drugs (anticonvulsants or antidepressants) are available. Steroids are used to aid in the recovery in few patients. Scope of recovery exists and some patients are able to recover over a period of 3-6 months.

I understand you are in discomfort and look towards hope. If there is a definite neurological insult (which as I discussed above is rare), it is not absolutely hopeless. However before I give you sense of hope, I look forward to the neurological examination findings.

Hope this answered your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
