Question: Hi! I have been peeing approx. 20 mins after drinking a glass of water. I checked my blood sugar for the thought that my blood sugar is high. My first fasting BSL is 5.7, then 5.3 the next day then 4.9 just this morning. All in mmol/L. My 2 hours post meal BSL is usually below 5.7mmol/L. Can you help me why is this so? Im getting paranoid here. Thank you so much. Hoping to hear from you soon.

Brief Answer:
Could be temporary and normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand the anxiety, nervousness when such physical ailments that you newly notice and have no clue about them.
Your blood sugar values were amazing and has no relation with the frequent urination that you complain about.
I would like to ask you few:
How many times in a day do you pee? If you are not doing it more than 6 to 8 times your new symptoms is normal.
How many times in the night do you pee? If it is not more than one time your new symptoms is normal and temporary.
You just have to wait for it go off on its own.
Kidneys sufficiently absorb water and they are automatic in the process. If they experience more water than they need they drain off in the urine. So if you drink water more than you need they can drain the excess.

There is no reason for you get paranoid here. It will be gone in few days to a week.

HI dr. Suma! Thanks for the response. When I drink a glass of water I pee about 2 to 3x in small to moderate amounts. Beforw I go to bed, I usually drink a glass of water and pee 2 to 3x then around 1 to 2x over the night. Sometimes 3x. We have a family history of diabetes type 2. Also, my latest blood sugar readings were taken after I shifted to a low carb diet with no rice, pasta, white bread. Just veggies and meat. This frequent peeing has been bothering me for 3 months now which comes and goes. Hooe to hear from you soon.

Just for my eating or diet background dr. Suma, i was a rice eater and I can eat loads of sweet like cakes, ice cream in just one go. So I am very worried as my frequent peeing can be a symptom of diabetes.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms of diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I would not like to comment on a single symptom of diabetes and that too when the quantity of urine is not confirmed to be over 3 litres in a 24 hour period. Keep collecting the urine in a can and measure it after 24 hours.
More over the symptoms have to be polyuria(frequent urination), polydypsia (frequent water intake) coupled with polyphagia (excessive hunger)
Your diet is just fine. You just have to keep a watch of your blood sugar once in a year since you have a positive family history.
For now I suggest you to keep the worrisome thoughts out of your brain and concentrate on eating healthy, exercise every day and healthy weight.
All the best.

Brief Answer:
Check with home pregnancy test

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Frequent urination is a very remote symptoms of UTI without burning pain, or body aches. So I would first ask to get home pregnancy test if you are sexually active. if not pregnant then I would ask for urine microscopy test.
